Nine Arch Bridge: Ella's Iconic Viaduct

The iconic colonial-era viaduct surrounded by lush greenery—one of Ella's most photographed landmarks.

The Nine Arch Bridge is one of Sri Lanka's most photographed sights. Built during the British colonial era, this stone viaduct spans a lush valley and is surrounded by tea plantations and forest. Visit at sunrise or sunset for the best light, and allow time to walk the tracks and nearby trails.

Getting there: a short tuk-tuk or walk from Ella town. No entrance fee. Best combined with a visit to nearby viewpoints.
